Cowboys Stadium: Wow!

Catch the Cowboys/Titans pre-season game on TV this weekend? The new stadium looks awesome. Really awesome. I've been reading the Dallas newspapers on-line and listening to some sports talk-radio out of Dallas, and it seems the only three concerns I had about the place are nothing to worry about ...
If you noticed - as many did - there was no big blue star on the 50-yard line, but it will be there for the official home opener on Sept. 20 against the Giants. The "Ring of Honor," also missing on Friday night, will also be in place by then. And all of the fuss over the punt hitting the video board is not a concern. It is actually five feet higher than required by the NFL, and it can be raised even more if need be.
Everything that I've read about the place and everybody that's been there has had only one reaction: Wow!
And, oh yeah ... the most important thing: The Cowboys looked pretty good in the game.

I heard somebody say that if they need to raise the video board, the NFL - not the Cowboys - should pay for it. And I agree. Hell, what teams makes more money for the NFL than the Cowboys? None. They have the highest ratings, they sell the most merch, and they and the people of Texas just sank over a billion dollars into the stadium. They met the height requirements for the board and even tacked on a few extra feet for good measure. If the board must go up, let the NFL pick up the check on this one. The amount of Dallas Cowboys stuff they sell in one day during the season should be enough to cover the cost.

I heard one report that a crane was on the field the very next day raising the board. Then I heard that it was fine as is. Then I heard that it would cost 1 or 2 million dollars to raise it. Then I heard the board is coming up anyway for the U2 concert in October, and at that time, they might just leave it that way. Whatever the case, it's not looking to be a big deal. Jerry will fix it.

Some people were just looking for things to pick on. The place is amazing. Jones said they wanted to save a few things for the real season opener, such as the big blue star and the Ring of Honor. By Sept. 20, all will be perfect. Man is that place BIG.
